SANTA ANA, Calif. — Dozens of Afghan and other refugee families are receiving assistance through the Tiyya Foundation.

Case manager Mahmood Omid has made it his mission to help.

Omid said that back in 2014, he came to the U.S. from Afghanistan through a special immigrant visa. At the time, it wasn’t easy to find help, he added.

Now, Omid is helping about 55 refugee families in need. Recently, he became a board member with the Afghan American Muslim Outreach organization in an effort to reach more families.
